axil: the angle between a leaf or bract and the axis bearing it. adj. axillary
cauliflorous: of plants, with flowers (and fruits) borne on a well-developed trunk or major branch. cf. cauline, ramiflorous. inflorescence: the group or arrangement in which flowers are borne on a plant. intercalary inflorescence: an inflorescence that either arises in an internodal position, or one originally terminal but ceasing to be so when vegetative growth subsequently resumes from the stem apex. ramiflorous: of flowers and fruits, borne below the current leaves on recently formed woody branches. cf. cauliflorous. terminal: at the apex or distal end. |
