basal: at the base; of a placenta, at the base of the ovary. gynobasic: of a style, arising near the base of the gynoecium, e.g. between the lobes of the ovary. stigma: the pollen-receptive surface of a carpel or group of fused carpels, usually sticky. style: an elongated part of a carpel, or group of fused carpels, between the ovary and the stigma. terminal: at the apex or distal end. |
